The only Scottish Association recorded in Japan at the
moment is the St. Andrews Society of Yokohama and
Tokyo
"We are a group of Scots, Japanese and other nationalities who
aim to promote friendship between Scottish and Japanese people and
improve knowledge and understanding of Scottish traditions and
culture. This particularly applies to the healthy traditions of
drinking whisky, eating well and dancing reels.
We do this by running a full calendar of events throughout the
year, including the Burns Supper, the St. Andrew Ball, informal
ceilidhs and a Spring Picnic where we combine Scottish and Japanese
culture by holding a ceilidh and barbeque under the cherry
blossom.
We are very lucky to have the Tokyo Pipe Band and the Tokyo
Bluebells at many of our events, as well as special guests that
have included the Queen's Piper in recent years.
Our membership has been growing steadily over the last few years
and we welcome old friends and new to our events this year, where
you will be assured of a friendly Scottish welcome!"
