  • Name of Tartan:
    Regent
  • Alternative Name: 232. MacLaren
  • ITI Number: 341
  • Category: Fashion
  • Designer / Source: Wilsons of Bannockburn
  • Date: 1819
Regent
  • Notes: As Jamie Scarlett MBE pointed out in 1997, Wilsons of Bannockburn were not above recycling tartans that had outlived their useful life or cannibalising ones that were still in use. This popular fashion tartan seems to have been produced by removing the black lines from the blue of the Grant Hunting (#311). Ignore the fact that one is blue and the other purple. Wilson's purple was what we would now call dark blue. Same sett as MacLaren (#342)
